Tatra 815 6x6

Tatra815... I think thats all I need to say... Next truck please...

For those that know the Tatra, I dont need to continue of course, you know there is nothing better built. However, for those who have been away on Mars for 150 years, read on. Engineered to extreme? Yes. Unique... definately. The best? without doubt.

These are not your crappy Ex-MOD Daf trucks, where they are still designed around your old 'horse drawn coach'. You are looking at the hardcore 'extreme eaters'... Double wishbone, coiled springs, twin dampers, remote control diff locks, double yokes, V12 twin turbo, crew cab. I can go on and on.

These are not cheap, so if you budget is less than Ł50k as they say 'it just isn't going to happen'.

This unit is 6x6 version, used as part of a group of vehicles, finding a Tatra 6x6 is about as difficult to find as the holy grail, they are sold quickly and don't hang about. So if you want the ultmate don't wait to long. There are no more!

Have a look at the rally films, they're quite impressive.

For those who have never heard of Tatra or have little knowledge then read on, history is pretty impressive!

Some History;

The name Tatra is derived from the high and low Tatra mountains, running from the low Tatras in Czech to the high Tatras in Slovak.

Car production in the Moravian town of Kopřivnice dates back to 1850 when Ignác Šustala founded a family company to manufacture coaches and carriages of his own design.1880s brought a profound change in transport. The uncomfortable carriages were replaced incrementally by rail transport. Šustala´s company built some new facilities to produce its first 15 railcars in 1882.

An important milestone came in 1897 when the company built the first passenger car in Central Europe, the "Präsident, and in 1898 when the first lorry was produced here. The lorry of payload 2,5 t was driven by two, rear-housed Benz engines, and was
a basis for Tatra truck production for the years to follow.

TATRA vehicles are supported by more than 150 years of tradition of manufacture of carriages, wagons, cars and trucks in the Koprivnice factory. The founding of TATRA Koprivnice is closely linked up with the industrial revolution of Bohemia and Moravia. First historical records of this nature can be traced back to 1850 - 1853. Halfway the nineteenth century Ignac Schustala and Adolf Raska established a coach and cart factory in the east Moravian village of Koprivnice.

Production of Tatra T813 began in 1967 and was superseded by T815 in 1982. Models were available in the variety of axle configurations 4x4, 6x6, and 8x8, all featuring fully independent suspensions. The trucks were powered by an air-cooled, naturally aspirated 17.6 litre V-12 T930, with a peak power of 198.6 kW at 2000 rpm and 990 Nm of torque at 1300 rpm(266 hp 730 ft.lbf) and featured a triple friction plate dry clutch, 10 speed main gearbox, 2 speed transfer gearbox and 2 speed low/high range planetary reduction and central tyre inflation/deflation system. Some military versions had the ability to pressurize differentials and gearbox housings during water crossing.
