Wow! It has been one crazy Springtime at Russian Military! Our workshop has been running flat out over the past few months and so unfortunately there has not been the capacity to continue work on the ISU during this time. At last I am pleased to tell you that we are now in a position to continue with the TLC.
Another batch of parts have been sandblasted and thoroughly prepared - these parts are now being sprayed with primer... |

Engine Inspection. The 39 ltr engine is currently undergoing a full inspection. As you can see from the photos we have taken, the main bearing shells are very worn - you can see the copper showing through. New shells are presently being commissioned. A complete new full engine gasket set is also to be fitted. |

Well, Christmas is nearly upon us. Man this year has just flown by! It’s been hard work, but still a good year for Russianmilitary. We are all looking forward to our Christmas break, as I’m sure are you.
We have just about called it a day on the ISU restoration until the new year for now. Our workshops will be closed over the festive period, from 23 December until 5th January 2009.
Richard Moore and the staff of Russianmilitary would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Best wishes,
The Russianmilitary team.

Up Close and Personal. Here are some close-up photos of a couple of the floor areas inside the tank.
Fascinating Facts:
Between November 1943 and May 1945, 1,885 ISU-152s were built. Mass production stopped in 1947, with a total of 3,242 units having been produced. ISU 152s produced after the end of WWII were fitted with night vision apparatus, and the V-2-IS engine was replaced by the V-54 engine. |

These photographs give a good indication of the general condition level and also give you a good idea of the degree of work involved in the restoration.
Fascinating Facts:
The first prototype was built in October 1943, it was named ‘Object 241’. Shortly after, the tank was given the name ISU-152. Mass production started at the Chelyabinsk Kirov Factory in November 1943.

Removing the Gearbox.
The old girl was a little reluctant to relinquish her gearbox, but Chris's subtle powers of gentle persuesion shone through in the end and the ISU's gearbox was hoisted away and then brought to rest, as you can see. |

Engine Removal.
Finally...Having scoured the Universe (well, the local supermarket anyway) for Bulgarian giants, our intrepid engineers used a bucketload of guile, cunning and anything else they could lay their hands on. As you can see, our boys managed to bed the engine down in a safe resting place.

Engine Removal.
Dude this is one stubborn brute to remove! Maybe if we employed a Bulgarian giant (thank you Mr Scott) things would be easier.
After a good deal of head scratching, growling and the timely purchase of 2 engineers trusses...out it came. |

The task of removing all components has now begun. Every component needs to be carefully removed and examined. Some will need cleaning and restoring, others will need to be completely replaced. From gun barrel, to engine to cabin internal components, everything is to be removed, no stone left unturned. The guys have been working feverishly on this, it's a big job... |
